"On the Train Tracks: Filming Octopussy & GoldenEye at Nene Valley Railway" tells the story of how a preserved heritage railway line 70 miles north of London became an unlikely filming location and details its association with the world of James Bond.

Featuring never-before-seen photographs and unique stories from the railway staff, volunteers and extras involved, ‘On the Train Tracks’ is a scrapbook of memories that captures what happens when the Bond film circus comes to your town, the legacy it leaves behind and how the railway continues to attract visitors keen to see where filming took place.

About the author

Being a Peterborough resident and the assistant editor of Nene Steam Magazine, Marc Hernandez has always been close to the Nene Valley Railway action. His passion for the historic railway combined with his love for James Bond, made him realise there was a story that needed to be told. What followed was very extensive research, many interviews and the accumulation of never-before-seen photographs. 

When Marc reached out, all his hard work eventually lead to the publication of his first book, ON THE TRAIN TRACKS. The book was launched during the 40th anniversary celebration of the film OCTOPUSSY at Nene Valley Railway in June 2023 and many of the present cast & crew members took home a copy.
